Is it possible to add an option to choose which key will finish the sentence in lessons (return key or space bar)

Thank you for your message and question.
Does it really make sense to add an option like that? I see no reason why people should finish a sentence with the space bar. If there are reasons, please let me know.
Tipp10 should remain simple and clean. So I want to add only options that are useful for a big group of people.

Use some kind of prefix comment
Solved
2011-07-25 1:19 am
You are extensively using QCoreApplication::applicationDirPath(), which requires source code modifications for platforms, where binaries and data files are put on different places. A better way is to use some kind of prefix.
A quick and dirty fix I used is:
for i in `grep -R 'QCoreApplication::applicationDirPath()' * | awk '{print $1}' | sed -e 's/:$//'`; do sed -i '' -e 's/QCoreApplication::applicationDirPath()/QString(DATADIR)/g' $i ; done
with setting the DATADIR environment variable to something like /usr/local/share/tipp10. Here is a patch for tipp10.pro

I use QCoreApplication::applicationDirPath() to read and copy the database template to the users home directory at the first start of Tipp10. And I call it whenever I need the user settings (registry) in the portable Windows version. To manage the user data I don't use applicationDirPath(), because then I use the access to the user directory.
What exactly do you mean with "data file"? OS like Windows, OS X or Ubuntu separate program data and user data. Tipp10 does this, too. Which OS do you have? FreeBSD? Why is there a need to separate files that are in the program directory?
If there is a need, you are right, a define variable with the path to the program directory would be nice for systems who separate binary and data file from the program directory. On the other hand, the program directory can change in one OS, for example it is different between Windows 98 and Windows 7. If I would use a "prefix" I had to compile different versions of Tipp10 for different versions of one OS!

Dvorak Lessons comment
Solved
2011-06-25 12:49 am
I noticed that Dvorak is a keyboard layout option, but sadly there are no lessons for it. Would it possible for dvorak lessons to be added?
2011-06-25 12:49 am
Lessons are hard to create, because you have to create a lesson structure and then you have to find words and sentences which consists of only specific characters. It's a lot of work.
We plan to develop a platform where users can help to create keyboard layouts, lessons and to translate the software. I hope this way we can offer some lessons for the Dvorak layout some day. In the meanwhile you can use the lessons for the QWERTY layout. You then you may have to put aside some keys from the beginning. So it's possible to use the Dvorak layout but at the beginning it's more difficult than with specific lessons.

making the training interface resizable
Solved
2011-06-05 2:21 pm
Firstly, I really appreciate that this software is free, thank you very much.
Currently, it seems that we couldn't change the size of the training interface. Even we could maximize the whole interface and change the size of ticker font, the training interface itself stays the same.
Is it possible to make the training interface resizable when we resize the overall interface?

Additional Keyboard Layouts...? in progress
Solved
2011-04-02 8:19 pm
Where or how can I add more keyboard layouts? The Standard keyboard layout in Brazilian Portuguese is the ABNT2 one. Can I do it by myself? or help in any way on it? ABNT2 is almost similar to english ones, but includes also signals like ^,´,`ç and some others....

Thanks for your message and your offer to help. It's not as easy to create a new keyboard layout.
We are planing to create a web portal for translating all the parts and to create different keyboard layouts. With details how to create/translate the best way. At the moment we only have a web portal in beta status to create training lessons.
So please be patient until we finished the "Developer Zone".

Display and unable-to-type problem (Burmese language) comment
Solved
2011-03-30 12:59 am
Hi,
I configured Burmese font fully and truly compliant to Unicode encoding ver 5.2.2 (present is ver 6.0.0) and Writing system as Myanmar in the settings.
It appears characters correctly in Sample box but not appear nor unable to type.
I created a lesson and pasted the sentences copied from Notepad as I can't directly write in it. Still doesn't work.
Is it a bug or need improvement ? I don't know what to say.
Thank you.

At the moment we only support German and English keyboard layouts. Training with these layouts limits the characters to those which are supported from the keyboard layout (General Setting - Language - Advanced). I think that's why you can't write your lessons. Without the right virtual keyboard layout in Tipp10 it makes not really sense to type different languages.
At the moment we renew our developer zone to offer more possibilities for translating and organize Tipp10.
I hope we can finish the relaunch in the next weeks. If you like you can help us then translating and improving Tipp10.

WPM instead of CPM in progress
Solved
2011-03-28 8:12 am
Please give the option of seeing the typing results using wpm (words per minute) instead of cpm (characters per minute). Where I live, we don't gauge the typing speed by crm.
2011-03-28 8:12 am
Yes, we will think about adding a WPM column in the next version.
We also discussed about this topic here:
http://www.freewaregenius.com/2011/03/16/tipp10-become-an-expert-touch-typist-with-this-free-typing-tutor-app/
Some questions:
- Where do you live?
- How do you calculate WPM, because words have different length?
- What's about spaces in this calculation?
- When you divide the CPM by 5 I think you have a more detailed result than real WPM. Isn't that true?

You can change the language in the General settings:
"Datei" -> "Grundeinstellungen" -> "Sprache"
After saving you have to restart Tipp10.
Tipp10 should automatically choose English language when it detects an English operating system. Which language is your OS?
I think I have to change Tipp10 - it should always select English and only when German is detected choose German.

I could do it now. Thanks a lot.
I have SPANISH keyboard.
It means besides the “ L” I have the “Ñ” instead of “;” ( picture in the attachment)
Is there any way I can filter and replace the “;” by the” Ñ” in order the software to work? ( I have tried filter it and I didn´t find a way to make it work)

Try the following:
"General Settings" -> "Language" -> "Advanced":
1. Append in the line "Limitation of Characters" after "0-9" this:
Ñ
2. Append in the line "Replacement Filter" this:
,;=Ñ
Would be happy if you could tell me if it works.

Just for your information I put “ñ “ instead of “Ñ”
I will see later when I will arrive to the next lessons how it works with other features.
Any news, I will keep you posted.

Use report - output - character to generate lesson comment
Solved
2011-03-27 3:57 am
Hi,
I just started to use Tipp10 (portable installation WinXP engl.). Great program. Apparently I am at an advanced level. At this level I have problems with several characters which are not in one lesson. I think for advanced users it would be beneficial if the software could create a lesson based on the error rate report in order to train particularly the troublesome characters.
Keep it up.
